Here are the major differences between Paleo & Keto
Paleo:
• Focuses on only whole foods our ancestors ate and excludes refined foods. These choices can include carb-heavy foods.
• Doesn’t allow dairy, as it is a product of agriculture and farming (not something cavemen would eat).
• Allows natural sugars like honey, maple syrup, and agave syrup.
Keto:
• Also focuses on whole foods, but carbs are restricted to less than 20g net carbs a day.
• Does allow dairy (with common items like butter, sour cream, and aged cheese).
• Does not allow natural sugars (instead, keto’ers need to opt for low-carb sweetener with little-to-no glycemic impact.)
In general, both are great ways to improve your health and make better choices for your body.
Which leads us to the biggest question of all:
Which of them is better for you to follow?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.
Instead, here are three of the biggest things you need to take into consideration:
• Paleo is better if you want the variety that comes from carbs.
• However, Keto seems to have the edge in terms of fat burn and weight loss.
(Of course, there are now keto-friendly carb replacements such as Keto Bread which can solve the variety problem for you. Meaning you get the best of both worlds!)
• Paleo can lead to improved exercise and gym performance. That’s because the carbs help fuel aerobic and anaerobic gains.
• Keto can lead to improved brain function and decreased insulin resistance. This may be better if you struggle with blood sugar control.
(Note that some athletes and bodybuilders do well on keto - it all depends on how your body responds!)
• Paleo is a bit easier to maintain since you don’t have to keep track of ketosis.
• With Keto you’ll need to keep track of ketosis and your macros for the best results.
(However, a Ketone Blood Meter Kit can eliminate guesswork and make it easy to stay on track, thanks to its highly accurate blood ketone monitoring.)
At the end of the day, the choice depends on where your preferences lie.
