Summer wellness tips to inspire your healthiest season yet.

RETHINK YOUR DRINK

Hydration is important no matter the season, but it’s especially crucial in the hot summer months when we’re more likely to be active outdoors. Dehydration occurs when we lose fluids by sweating and they aren’t replaced. Try to consume alcoholic and caffeinated beverages in moderation and avoid sugary drinks like soda and sports drinks. Shift away from refined sugars by opting for ingredients like fresh fruits, herbs or honey to flavor your drinks.

Our recommendation: Make a batch of natural “vitamin water” to sip throughout the day to replenish lost fluids and electrolytes.

- Four cups of cold coconut or mineral water
- 1 lemon
- 1 small cucumber
- Handful of mint leaves
- Handful of frozen raspberries
- Handful of frozen blueberries
- Slice of fresh ginger root

1. Slice the cucumber and lemon into circles, the ginger into thin rounds and pull the mint leaves off their stalks
2. Pour the coconut water or mineral water into a pitcher and add the lemon, cucumber, mint leaves and berries
3. Let the water sit for about thirty minutes to allow the flavors to infuse
4. Drink throughout the day

HOLISTIC SKINCARE

Sweat, UV rays, pollution—these are just a few of the things our skin comes into contact with more than usual during the summer months. The result can range from blemishes, to the appearance of aging and in some cases, extreme damage such as skin cancer. Wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen, sunglasses and hats should be your first line of defense, but you can also help protect your skin from the inside with an antioxidant-rich diet and herbal supplements.

Our recommendation: Try incorporating more antioxidant-rich foods into your diet such as tomatoes, blueberries, leafy greens, walnuts, seeds (flax, hemp or chia) and green tea. Level up your holistic skincare with high quality herbal supplements like Coffee Boost: Beauty which combines coconut milk powder with Turmeric, Holy basil, Acacia catechu and Indian madder. These ingredients are known for their rich antioxidant, adaptogenic and anti-inflammatory properties that help protect cells from free radical damage and support radiant skin. Try this recipe.
