Jennifer Bradley Cosmetics Makes a Splash At Miami Swim Week
Jennifer Bradley recently wrapped Miami Swim Week and glammed up an army of models with fierce and flawless looks from her own beauty line, Jennifer Bradley Cosmetics.
“Getting to work closely with models for the past 20 years has really given me the experience to handle almost anything and Miami Swim Week was a spectacular event,” Jennifer Bradley says. “I did makeup for three days and I provided all the makeup for everyone. It was hard work, but it was great. It’s such an incredible feeling to see your artwork on the runway. I enjoyed it tremendously. Working in production is probably the most grueling work you can do in this industry which is why I end up turning down so many of these opportunities, but I’m glad I didn’t this time. It was an absolutely incredible experience that I’ll never forget.”
While Jennifer Bradley typically spends her days developing new products for her ultra-successful beauty line, she also admits getting to be a makeup artist again is quite fun.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have been an official sponsor of Miami Swim Week,” Jennifer Bradley says. “I’m looking forward to probably working Art Basel this year for more fashion shows.”
Miami Swim Week showcased 2023 collections for multiple designers including ACACIA by Naomi Newirth, Syrena Swimwear, which is a favorite brand of Kylie Jenner’s and Magic City favorite Luli Fama, whose designs have been spotted on everyone from Beyoncé, Shakira and Kate Hudson to Jennifer Aniston and Leslie Mann.
And Jennifer Bradley says the collections this year did not disappoint. “There was high fashion, beautiful clothing being shown during this Fashion Week,” she says. “It was not just bathing suits. It was absolutely gorgeous clothing. There were a couple of designers that were from Colombia and I loved their designs. These were clothes I would definitely want to wear.”
Jennifer Bradley Made Sure Miami Week Models Were Picture Perfect
Curating a variety of makeup looks for many shows, Jennifer Bradley tapped into her creative roots to put together glowing, glamour goddess looks for Miami Swim Week.
“The very first day they wanted glowing skin and slicked back hair and I did exactly that,” she says. “And I put a lot of glow on their bodies with these really cool pigments that I have. For the next designer collection I did makeup for, the look was red lips and shimmer on the eyes with glowing skin.”
While Jennifer Bradley says the look was simple, it was classic. “I used this one particular color from my line called Jennifer B ($16). It's named after me because it's my signature red that anyone can use. You could put it on anyone of any shade of the rainbow and it looks phenomenal. Then I applied one clean swipe of shadow and it just looked so pretty.”
Jennifer Bradley says another interesting aspect of Miami Swim Week this year was doing character makeup.
“The last day of Miami Swim Week, we had to do character makeup and I was asked to do makeup for two models who were supposed to be the female version of James Bond. They were just really sexy with smoldering eyes, lashes, and red lips. It was an ultimate femme fatale type of thing. I also did makeup looks for a model inspired by Indiana Jones and another inspired by Sherlock Holmes.”
For the Sherlock Holmes look, Jennifer Bradley says she went with a romantic, soft, and pretty vibe. “The model looked so beautiful. And I was just really pleased with how it turned out,” she adds. “It was fun to stretch my wings as a makeup artist too.”
A model herself, Jennifer Bradley recalls the many hours she had spent under heavy makeup and hot lights and the toll it took on her skin.
She decided to create her own product line after dealing with acne and sensitivities to perfumes on her own skin. When she was working in Los Angeles on the sets of TV shows and commercials, makeup artists had a tough time matching her skin tone, and she says she’d have a bad breakout a few days later. Having that first-hand experience continues to serve her well with the models she is currently working with.
“The models were all thanking me at Miami Swim Week for being so aware of cleanliness and cleaning my brushes,” Jennifer Bradley says. “They were very happy that I was very conscious of their skin.”
Jennifer Bradley also gifted Miami Swim Week models with swag bags stuffed with products from her line including the 4 In One Camera Ready Foundation, Time Freeze MAX, Pure Mineral Pigment, and lip-gloss, in addition to other products. Some of the models were also gifted with her Best Shampoo and Conditioner ($39).
