My firearm came with a guide rod and recoil spring, why would I upgrade?
The stock polymer Glock® guide rod has proven to be dependable, within limits, and its focus is on weight. Heavier guide rods (like the Lone Wolf stainless steel guide rod) provide additional forward weighting that helps dampen felt recoil, which keeps your muzzle rise low with each shot.
Lone Wolf provides perfectly calibrated springs which helps mitigate slide wear and tear and keeps brass ejection at a minimum.
How long will my Guide Rod Assembly last?
The assembly is comprised of multiple parts, which have varying lifetimes, but the Guide Rod will last far longer than a recoil spring. Metal guide rods should last a lifetime, unlike the recoil spring.
How long will my recoil spring last?
It’s highly variable depending on the type of gun, ammunition, and style of shooting you use, but the range is 3,000-5,000 rounds.
When should I replace my recoil spring?
Depending on the purpose of your firearm, if this is a safe or truck gun, that sees very little use, replacing every few years to assure factory perfection is recommended. But if your firearm is your defensive carry and sees a lot of training fire, frequent replacement is warranted to assure comfortable and expected repeatability.
