Hi ,
Did you have a fun weekend?
If you're not feeling ready to switch back to work-mode, taking the steps to wind down from your weekend properly can help.
Here are some tips to help you relax before bed and get a good night’s sleep so you can start the week off on the right foot.
1. RUN A WARM BATH
Warm baths have been proven to relax aching muscles and ease physical tension. Adding candles or essential oils for a bit of aromatherapy can make the experience even more soothing.
2. STRETCH
You know we’re big proponents of stretching at all33. Doing so right before bed can help you sleep better. Try breathing in child’s pose for 10 breaths, or even a simple forward fold can help you reduce your blood pressure and help you feel calmer.
3. BREATHE
Speaking of breathing, focusing on taking deep belly breaths is an easy and effective way to relieve stress. Place your left hand on your stomach just below your ribs and your right hand on your chest, then take a deep breath in through your nose so that you feel your belly push against your left hand. Breathe out through pursed lips and feel your belly go in. Your chest should not move. Repeat breathing in and out this at least 3 times.
4. DRINK TEA
Chamomile tea contains antioxidants that help you get sleepy. But drinking any hot tea will help you get in the mood for sleep. If you drink alcohol, either skip it tonight or stop earlier than usual, because it can inhibit deep sleep.
5. DON'T BRING SCREENS TO BED
One thing all sleep scientists agree on is that the bedroom is just for sleep. Try keeping both your phone and your laptop out of the bedroom tonight and skip the scrolling and Netflix so that the blue light doesn’t interfere with your sleep.
Sweet dreams!
