An Ironman Coach Talks Posture
Want to be faster, better, stronger? Improving your posture can help you become all of those things.
Earl Walton, global director of training and coaching for Ironman, spoke to The Wall Street Journal about how to turn on your muscles and straighten your back.
Walton says that hours hunched over a laptop cause the hip flexors to tighten and your core and glute muscles to become inactive.
“You see a lot of triathletes running with their shoulders hunched because their core is turned off,” he says. “Their upper body looks like a sack of potatoes. You can get the same look after a day of conference calls or computer work.”
