Clean Beauty’s got a new red face. Well actually, a red ribbon. This month, Allure released the winners for their annual Best of Beauty Awards. This year, however, Allure surprised us with a brand new “Clean” category, with its very own designated seal.
So what does this mean? Just like the rest of us in the industry, the folks at Allure admitted that they struggled with defining an industry standard for "clean" beauty products. However, according to the announcement video for their new clean beauty standard, they've settled that clean beauty products contain:
No parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicones, polyethylene, polypropylene, metallic aluminum, triclosan, talc, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehyde, toluene, or chemical sunscreens such as oxybenzone, avobenzone, and octinoxate.
What do you think? Is this a complete clean beauty standard? Do your beauty products pass Allure’s clean beauty test?
(Ours do!)
