THE ORIGIN OF THE PANAMA HAT

In the 1600's the indigenous women developed weaving techniques with toquilla straw made from palm fronds to make baskets, textiles + HATS to protect themselves from the sun.

HISTORY IN THE DESIGN

The weaving process of the Panama Hat is entirely manually done by hand. Skilled artisans use a technique that has been passed down from generations before. This skill is valued as a family heritage + tradition.

ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT + BREATHABLE

Toquilla straw is the magic ingredient to the Panama hat. The soft, flexible + durable fibers make it ideal for weaving + an ultra lightweight product to wear. The toquilla straw fibers are gathered by hand from the Carludovica Palmate plant gown in the Ecuadorian coast!

HATS WORTHY OF TIME

The manual craftwork of each design is tedious, yet rewarding. Add a piece of art to your wardrobe knowing that the quality + the classically formed shape will last for a lifetime.
