Beware of PVC in Kids’ Rain Gear

PVC is commonly used in children’s rain gear to provide a waterproofing layer on the fabric. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) usually includes in its composition a group of chemicals called phthalates that can be found in personal care products. Phthalates are endocrine disruptors, changing the reactions of hormones in the body and affecting development.

Keep Your Family Safe From Quats

We have previously shared our concerns over the mixture of chemicals known as quats (Quaternary Ammonium compounds) that have been linked to birth defects in laboratory animals. The problem with quats is that they are commonly found in household commercial cleaning products (including Clorox disinfecting wipes) and they are strong enough to cause adverse health effects.
