This is an email newsletter from the furniture and home goods store A+R. It highlights new furniture and lighting options in their stores, while also discussing the contributions of key women in furniture design. The newsletter also contains a blog post discussing International Women's Day and the recognition of women's achievements, in honor of the holiday which happens to fall on March 8th. This newsletter was sent out on March 9th, the day after the holiday, to highlight the awareness and appreciation of women and equality.

International Women's Day

March 8 offers a moment in this whirlwind world to honor women—and the universal movements toward gender equality and well-being and for reproductive rights. IWD dates back to 1911. The United Nations invited member states in 1977 to proclaim this day as a spotlight for women’s rights and, poignantly, world peace.

This year’s theme: Inspire Inclusion.

Among our favorites is her ever-configurable, ever-expandable, ever-versatile Compile Shelving for Muuto.

Trine Andersen: Necessity is the mother of invention, and the need to find affordable wallpaper lead to a design agency in 2005 and now product powerhouse and Scandinavian cult favorite, all under the Ferm Living brand. So many best-selling hits to count, and at the top is her endlessly modifiable Collect Lighting Collection.

Greta M. Grossman: Swedish by birth and Los Angeleno by renown (she and her jazz musician husband relocated to LA and opened a studio on Rodeo Drive during WWII), Greta was a multi-threat—furniture and interior designer and architect. Here, the Gräshoppa Floor Lamp and 62 Desk, released in 1947 and 1952, respectively, and beautifully crafted by Danish house Gubi.
