Fold your letter to its final size. For non-paper items, wrap them loosely in scrap paper. This bundle will serve as your template and helps size the envelope correctly.
Lay the printer paper horizontally. Center the template near the bottom. Fold both sides inward with a slight overlap, then fold the bottom up and the top down to cover the template. Unfold the printer paper. Cut off the small corner triangles where folds intersect. This removes bulk and helps the envelope fold flat and neatly. Place the item in the center. Fold the side flaps inward, then fold the bottom flap up. Secure with glue or double-sided tape and press firmly. Apply adhesive to the top flap and seal. Let it dry briefly. Write the address, add decorations if you like, and attach a stamp if mailing.
