Hi there,

Last weekend we spent three days at Maker Faire Bay Area on Mare Island in Vallejo, California. Here's how it looked from our booth, and from everywhere else.

At the Petoi booth

Folks of all ages steering Quaddle with a finger, Bittle X and Nybble Q taking on visitors, and a giant robot walking right past our table.

Fun fact: the original vibe-coded web app used full leg and arm movements to control Quaddle. But at a crowded event, the appearance of multiple people at once threw it off — so we vibe-coded an update that uses just four fingers instead.

We will open-source the app soon. You can try adapting it for Bittle or Nybble too, though it's trickier there — 2 servos per leg instead of Quaddle's 1.

Our favorite moment

John Boiles, co-founder of East Bay Maker's Club, vibecoded brand-new eye expressions for Quaddle using a ChatGPT coding agent in a few minutes, live at a session. That's what open source looks like when it works.

Live at the show, East Bay Makers Club’s co-founder vibecoded a new Quaddle eye expression in minutes—open source in action.

The rest of Maker Faire

A walking human transformer, a racing cake cart, the Make Magazine, Arduino and BayLUG, LEGO booths, and the giant robot fire show at Saturday's dinner.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and to Maker Faire for having us.

P.S. Quaddle, the little robot at our booth, is on Kickstarter until October 8. Take a look.

A tiny, agile four-servo *Quaddle* robot outmaneuvers and escapes two larger *Bittle* robots through quick, dynamic movements.
