From the Desk of Carl Pradelli,
Co-Founder of NatureCity

Dear ,

With a heavy heart, we are sad to report that Dr. Danhof passed away about 10 days ago, a few weeks after celebrating his 93rd birthday.

All of us at NatureCity extend our deepest condolences to the Danhof family and his many friends. It was an honor to have known “Dr. D.”

Dr. Danhof can rest easy knowing he had a significant positive impact on the world. His trailblazing work with the Aloe vera plant laid the foundation for future discoveries that have benefitted many millions of people around the world who use Aloe vera products.

I believe that a big part of Dr. Danhof’s success was due to the breath of his education, which gave him a unique perspective to approach his work. As a college student he studied biology and chemistry, and then he earned a master’s degree in microbiology. He continued graduate studies and earned a second master’s degree in nutrition and a Ph.D. in physiology. Finally he earned a medical degree specializing in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

This impressive pedigree earned him a Fulbright Scholarship, which is widely considered one of the most prestigious international research scholarships. It was as a Fulbright Scholar in 1969 and 1970 that Dr. Danhof was introduced to the power of botanicals and herbal extracts.

This led to what became a more than 40 year love affair with the Aloe vera plant. In the late 1970s, Dr. Danhof was the first to identify the various nutritional components in Aloe vera, and he spent much of the next four decades studying the Aloe vera plant and its benefits - until his family finally convinced him to retire in 2018 at age 90.

Despite all of his accomplishments, Dr. Danhof remained a very humble man. I once asked him how he felt that many in the Aloe industry were calling him the “Father of Aloe.” He replied “I really wish they’d stop saying that, God is the father of Aloe, not me.”

I also enjoyed seeing him show the top of his hands to people he just met. For many years, Dr. Danhof had been applying Aloe gel to one hand, but not the other – to illustrate the anti-aging effects of Aloe on the skin. And the difference was quite striking with the Aloe hand looking much more youthful!

Dr, Danhof was a great scholar, doctor and gentleman – and we’ll all miss him. He can take comfort knowing his legacy and the value of his work will live on.

Since Dr. Danhof’s retirement in 2018, his company has been led capably by his grandson Allen, and we look forward to continuing our 15 year partnership for TrueAloe with the Danhof family.

Thank you Dr. D, and rest in peace, you earned it.

Yours for Good Health,
