Roger Federer has an “imaginary line rule” for deciding where to hit that looks like this:

The way it works is pretty simple. Roger decides where to hit depending on whether or not the ball crosses the imaginary line.
I know, it sounds a little weird, but this simple rule lets you play “smart-aggressive” tennis. It lets you control the match without taking unnecessary risk and piling up a ton of unforced errors trying to dictate play.
