The Glass Slipper Deckers X Lab x NADINE MARCHAL
Bridge between art and industry
From June 9 to 12, 2022, Nadine Marchal weaving artist will exhibit at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris as part of the biennial event: Révélations.

Made from recycled guitar strings, copper and hand-blown glass on a recycled Deckers X Lab KO-Z sole, Nadine’s Glass Slipper blends craftsmanship, industrialization, and sustainability to remind us not to forget the work of the hand and also the fragility of our environment.

"
Just as Cinderella puts on a glass shoe and is transformed into a beautiful princess, I would like this glass shoe to change a little –the vision of financiers and industrialists’ choice of materials and our own way of consuming.
"
– Nadine Marchal
The Weaving Process of the Glass Slipper
Nadine partnered with the Deckers X Lab development team to build the hand-crafted weaving on top of a commercialized recycled midsole. Nadine invited Charlotte Mollard, Deckers X Lab designer to join her in the project and weave a portion of the Glass Slipper upper with her hands. The shared experience is one of mentorship, and a new way of working together, as their primary partnership is on commercialized Deckers X Lab footwear.

Nadine’s handwoven work has been featured on the best-selling KO-Z SNPR Mid Wedge. Stay tuned for more collaborations with Nadine Marchal, and new drops in Fall of 2022 and Spring of 2023!

"
Nadine Marchal thanks all the people who collaborated to give life to these works presented at this biennial and thanks infinitely the foundation Weaving for Change, Darina Santamaria and Julien Jean for their support.
