There's nothing quite like a summer road trip! Before you hit the road, you go through all the necessary checks to ensure the trip goes smoothly—but what about our pets? If you plan on bringing your pet along for the ride, check out these tips to help prepare your pooch for the upcoming journey.

BUCKLE UP! SAFETY FIRST
Car safety is just as important for your dog as it is for you—don’t let your dog ride without protection. Create a safe and comfortable car travel space for your dog with a dog seat belt, car seat, or travel crate.

PLAN REST STOPS AHEAD OF TIME
Map out rest stops, dog parks, or national parks along your route where you can take your dog on a nice long walk. Plan to take your dog out every 2-3 hours.

EXPECT MESSES
Expect the unexpected! Your dog will likely track in mud, dirt, sand, or even poop. Keep plenty of wet wipes and paper towels on hand for cleanups.
