Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits
drawn around us by the equal rights of others...” ~

Melanie, thanks for getting back to me so quickly,
If I had my way, it would be best to speak with you soon while I have my office set up here in Costa Rica. I've been here for 25 years now, with the exception of the nearly 3 years on the road in the states. Basically I'm going back to pack up my truck and drive back to CR with the things I've accumulated there.

Topics I'd like to discuss: Because I'm dyslexic, I wasted 13 years in a government forced education program that thought I was stupid. When I left, I believed myself to be stupid... never passed an exam, couldn't figure out the simplest math equations and if it weren't for the models I built, short stories I wrote, and the art I made/performed in various genres throughout my life, I'd still think I was stupid.

There are a lot of us down here in the bilges; some who might make the difference if we can just reach them. I left The Austrian on the clubhouse table at a trailer court near the border in Douglas Arizona, and waited to be asked more about them. Nothing. There's a reason.

Academia is maybe the last place people will go when they're looking for truth. When I was discharged in 1965, I applied for help from the VA to learn machine shop skills. They put me in night classes at a local college. But they wanted to teach me algebra first. Soon I was the class fool again... never touched a lathe or milling machine.

My reason for not reenlisting, was to continue racing motorcycles. Got a job fixing them; soon the service manager taught me how to use a boring bar, how to read a degree wheel and because he was once a factory Harley Rider in the Expert class; how to get into a turn fast and come out hard. Later, working for a lab in Princeton, I built contraptions for the inventors there. They had a machine shop and I finally got my hands on them. About this time I was introduced to Libertarian philosophy and soon after I was exchanging letters with Leonard Read. Soon I was Libertarian chairman for my county and on the NJ state steering committee. But laws are the fence they build around us and soon we realize we'd become outlaws, even though we're moral (best we could) citizens... it was a wild time, long hair, risky stuff going on all around us, I was a happy man.

Fifty years sliped by unnoticed. One day I wake up and I'm in my 80's. Fifty years of howling at the moon... and about freedom in the real sense. In the 60's I became a democrat... against the war, and democrats didn't wear braziers... better reasons than being one now.

...so I'm here now, after nearly three years on the road, and I believe I understand what people already know. They're not fooled by the left or the right... the kids are on top of it, the smart one's, and their parents too.

Now let me step back. Let's look at the world today; virtually every person in every country is pissed off at their government. Step forward a notch. About a year ago I was on a train from LA to Benson AZ... and spent eleven hours with a black preacher who worked with LA gangs. It's the kind of thing that happens when you move around. Well we talked till we almost couldn't talk anymore... he carried my bag off the train when we got to Benson; he still had miles to go. We embraced. I'm still in touch with him. That night we discovered that governments are no more than bigger, more powerful gangs.

And if you have an opportunity to read Death by Government by R.J. Rummel, I think you'll agree that it's time for a New Global Magna Carta; and... and here's the trick... to collectively turn our backs on ALL governments of the world. Needs to be done peacefully... 'don't take your gun to town, Son, don't take your gun to town...boom diddy, boom diddy, boom diddy....boom...'

Self Defense is a Human Right... Help me get the word out. Mises.org is a choir from academia... I have a hard time staying awake. You've nested with the enemy. I can help. Fuzz

PS, Please don't be offended, Melanie, but every time I write something, I learn a little bit more of the puzzle. I'm going to share this with my FuzzNews group. Maybe some of them will look you up.

Wanna support my efforts? I've been mostly in the States since January 2021, and I have to say, some of you have been very generous, Thank You!  My Book Sales are up, and I've got a place to stay here in Bisbee. Still, I'm on the road, and  need low octane gas and cheap motels once and awhile... so if you're in the mood, I can tell you whatever you send is going in the tank.

Hi Mr. Furlong,

If you would like to wait until you get back in the country, that isn’t a problem at all. Would you want to reach back out to me or is it easier to reach out to you when you get back?

Please let me know and I will be happy to get you all taken care of.

Thank you,

It's just a card change and I'm out of the country... please send me a request I can respond with a payment to in a few weeks.

Can you put me in touch with someone I can speak to on the phone about Austrian economics and how it comes across to people like me, from the street.

I was scooped up by Leonard E Read many years ago, and given the word.

Now in my 80's, I'm still at it. Someone important at Mises might like to speak to me.

First response would be best by email: [email protected]

Have a wonderful day, Paul Furlong

Dear Mr. Furlong,

Thank you for your loyal support! I wanted to contact you about your monthly donation of $5.00.

This month's transaction has been declined. Most declined transactions occur due to an expired credit card or a mismatch in billing/home address.

We greatly appreciate your support here at the Institute. If you would like to continue your monthly donation, please call or email me. I’ll be happy to update your card information so that you don’t miss any gifts.

Regards,
