I’m sure many of you have carpentry tools lying in a shed or basement. But do you use them only to fix stuff around the house?

How about killing two birds with one stone?

Bring out your tools and some creativity. Here are some DIY ideas that make for great gifts for women:

Wooden Ring Holder:

Cut out a block of wood in the shape of a cube. Use cutting tools to make a notch into one of the edges. Test if it can hold a ring securely.

Once this is done, polish and varnish the wood to complete this gorgeous gift.

Lap Desk:

If she works on her computer a lot or does paperwork, she will love this idea. Cut out a block of foam board and a larger size of the foam cushion.

Wrap this block in burlap by using a hot glue gun. You can even paint the initials of her name on the top side.

Personalized Wooden Hanger:

Use inexpensive wooden hangers as a base. Find a pack of rub-on letters in a style that you love.

Cut out the letters that you need from your pack of rub-ons, arrange them on your hanger to plan your spacing, and then rub each letter on the hanger.

DIY Engraved Mugs:

The materials: copper mugs, engraving pen, nail polish remover, permanent marker. Engrave her name on the mug, and reinforce with a permanent marker. Wipe off excess ink with a nail polish remover.

The best part about these engraved mugs? The engraved designs are even more visible when your cup is filled with an ice-cold beverage.

By the way, remember to exercise caution when working with sharp and heavy tools.
