For many years the world's tallest moose statue has stood in the city of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. We have always been flattered that a whole city named itself after us, so we shared the city's pride in the 32-foot tall "Mac the Moose". So it came as somewhat of an affront that Norway decided to build their own huge moose statue measuring almost 33-feet tall.

When the news broke earlier this year, I called together an emergency executive meeting.  I asked, "how can we afford to build an even taller moose statue?" Quickly the question changed to "how can we afford not to build the world's tallest moose statue?"  It was a matter of corporate identity... of pride in our company, our country, and dare I say our whole way of life.

Funding the project required sacrifices across the organization.  The marketing team slashed their string cheese budget by 42% and IT went to only bi-monthly team mani-pedis.  And yet, I feel that the shared sacrifice and endless hours of work in pursuit of a truly noble endeavor brought us closer together than we have ever been.  I have never been prouder of my team.

And so today, it is with immense pride, gratitude and personal satisfaction that I introduce The NEW World's Tallest Moose Statue.
